A Glimpse of Alaska... Left me wanting more.

Detail of House Pole in Clan House, Totem Bight State Park, Ketchikan We're back to the lower 48 having enjoyed smooth seas and gorgeous weather for our short cruise north. What a rugged and beautiful place! The down side of this type of excursion is that time is always limited. Even though we saw some incredible sights, to me it felt like a survey course with just enough time to begin to appreciate what might be there before the page turns and you're off and running again. That said, we had a ball. Our 9 year old grandson loved every minute of it and I sense that it was an experience he'll remember for some time.

Among other fun things, the three of us panned for gold - successfully I might add - in Juneau, rode a vintage railway into the high country in Skagway, explored Totem Bight State Park in Ketchikan and fiddled around in Victoria BC on the way home.

I'm putting together a few images for a "Glimpses of Alaska" gallery that should be up in a few days. Great trip!
